There and Back Again
I was away last week and took a break from blogging. It was not actually a spring break, as I was attending an academic conference, but it was fun and involved a bit of travel. I enjoy traveling, specifically that state of mind one gets in those in-between spaces, not at home and not yet at the destination. It has always been a special kind of experience for me, it allows me to see the world from a different perspective, to step out from the normal day-to-day routine and into a different world. Of course, travel and concepts of home have a different meaning for us military brats, but still, a journey can stir the soul. I was tempted to step into an Internet cafe and make a post from the road, but I didn't have time. At any rate, here's to the journey, and as that famous Hobbit said, "You never know what will happen when you step out onto the road."
